Bread that breathes, without the plastic bag.
Plastic traps moisture against the crust and turns it soft. This bag does the opposite: the beeswax-infused cotton holds enough humidity to keep the crumb from drying out while still letting the loaf breathe, which helps slow mold. At 13 x 17 inches it takes your largest loaves, including a full round of sourdough. Slip the bread in and tuck the open end under the loaf. That's the whole method.
The maker sources the 100% cotton herself, then infuses it with organic beeswax using heat and pressure, and nothing else. No added resins, no oils, just wax. The result handles like a lightweight waxed canvas: a little structure, a little give, and a surface that softens as you use it. Every bag is cut and sewn one at a time by local women in North Alabama.

Why We Chose It
We chose this bag because it solves the bread problem with one material and no cleverness: cotton and beeswax, pressed together, cut and sewn by hand. We went looking for someone still making these properly, and found a maker in North Alabama who sources her own cotton and sews every bag one at a time. It's the kind of thing people used before plastic existed, and it still works better.
