Most weighted blankets get their heft from glass or plastic beads sealed into pockets. This one is filled with dense organic cotton yarns instead, which is why it drapes and breathes like a blanket rather than sitting on you like a vest. At 50 by 75 inches and 5.8 pounds, it's long enough to cover you properly on the couch and wide enough to share, with a grounded feel rather than something that pins you down. It works in July as well as January.

The matelassé weave gives it soft, dimensional stripes and real presence in a room, finished with half-inch fringe hems along the sides and one-inch hems top and bottom. We carry it undyed, in the natural color of the cotton. The cotton is 100% organic, grown in India, Turkey, and Tanzania, woven in Portugal, and GOTS certified from field to finished cloth. How To Use

• Keep it folded over the arm of a sofa or the foot of a bed, where the weave shows.
• Cold wash on a gentle cycle with like colors.
• Tumble dry low and remove promptly. Apply a warm iron if you like.
• Skip fabric softener and dryer sheets. Reach for wool dryer balls instead, and a plant-based detergent without bleach or whiteners.
