Handwoven Picnic Basket
Handcrafted Picnic Basket
Handwoven in Ohio, signed by the person who makes it.
At 19"L x 14"W x 11"H, this basket has room for a full meal: plates, a bottle, and the food itself, without the awkward stacking that smaller baskets force on you. Two swinging handles fold down flat against the sides when you set it on a table, then swing up together for carrying. At two pounds empty, it holds a lot without weighing you down on the walk out.
Each basket is made to order from sustainably sourced materials and comes in two finishes: Ivory, or Blue & Whitewash. The rectangular shape means it sits flat and stacks well, which is why plenty of them never make it back to the closet. They end up holding blankets by the couch or produce on the counter.
How To Use
- Carry by both handles together for balance when the basket is full.
- Fold the handles down flat when setting it on a table or shelf.
- Keep out of prolonged direct sun and damp storage to protect the weave.
- Dust periodically with a soft, dry bristle brush. Do not soak or submerge.

Why We Chose It
We chose this basket because it comes from a living tradition of American basketmakers still working by hand, still signing what they make. It's the kind of thing that gets used for a decade of picnics and then handed down, which is why it's become one of our most-given wedding gifts. Function, beauty, and tradition, in a form that hasn't needed improving.
