Stainless Steel Tongs
Japanese Stainless Steel Tongs — Sori Yanagi
A beautifully simple kitchen tool designed to be used daily for decades.
These stainless steel tongs were designed by the celebrated Japanese industrial designer Sori Yanagi, whose work is known for its thoughtful simplicity and exceptional usability. Unlike many kitchen tongs, this design eliminates the traditional coil spring, making them far easier to clean and preventing rust or buildup over time.
The single-piece construction provides just the right amount of flex, allowing you to grip food securely without crushing it. Lightweight yet strong, they quickly become one of the most reached-for tools in the kitchen.
Why We Chose This
At Three Bales, we’re always drawn to kitchen tools that quietly improve the rhythm of cooking. These tongs are a perfect example—simple, durable, and designed with real use in mind.
The absence of a spring means nothing traps food or grease, and the stainless steel construction holds up beautifully over time. It’s the kind of thoughtful design that turns an everyday utensil into something you keep for decades.
Choosing Between Styles
Both styles are extremely versatile, but each has a slight advantage depending on how you cook.
Perforated (with holes)
Ideal when you want excess liquid or grease to drain away—perfect for frying bacon, sautéed fish, tempura, or lifting foods from oil.
Solid (no holes)
Great for tossing salads, plating roasted vegetables, transferring grilled meats, or handling foods where you want to keep sauces or juices intact.
If you can’t decide, either version will serve you well in the kitchen.
Use It For
Turning vegetables in a hot pan, plating pasta, lifting fish from a skillet, serving salads, flipping grilled foods, or transferring anything from pan to plate.
