A welcome mat that says hello with texture and lovely design. These mats are made from a plant fiber grown and harvested in South America called fique. Similar to jute but softer in tactility we couldn't be more excited to share this object with you! Fique is a plant from the family of Furcraea similar to the agave plant in its appearance that needs little water to grow. Healthy in abundance in the Andean regions of Colombia the fique plants store water in their large leaves that aids them in harsh dry seasons making it a true sustainable fiber option. Hand crocheted by a collective of women in Colombia that are paid fairly for their craft. This mat can be used both indoors and out but make sure to have it under a cover entryway if used outdoors because the natural fibers can be degraded by the weather elements.
Why we love it as a bathmat: it dries beautifully and quickly unlike cotton mats that hold moisture in their threads.
*measures 27 inches by 21 inches, each may vary from the handmade nature of object making
