Eighteen inches of oiled beechwood, made entirely by hand.
At 18.1 inches, these tongs put real distance between your hand and the coals. The tips and inside edges are ground to meet cleanly along their whole length, so they close on a sausage or a chop without pinching it loose. Wood also means no scratched grates and no metal heating up in your grip.
Each pair is 100% handmade from oiled beechwood. The ends are glued and then joined with stainless steel screws, so the hinge holds under repeated pressure instead of working loose. A thumb recess and shaped finger waves along the arms give you a secure, comfortable grip while you work. Made by Bürstenhaus Redecker in Germany.

Why We Chose It
We chose these tongs for the details you only notice after using them: edges ground to actually meet, a joint that's screwed as well as glued, and finger waves that put your hand where it belongs without you thinking about it. They're the kind of thing a German brushmaker makes when the job is to hold something over fire and nothing more.
